Recruiting Grades

The guys USC had last year on the front lines were not slouches according to the recruiting analyst. There are a few that were 4 stars that have not show up for whatever reason, could be coaching in some cases, could be kids being kids, not really sure. I do give an edge to Clemson right now, but we also know landscapes change very quickly. Time will tell.

History has proven that 4-stars in HS are not always 4-stars on the College level and the same goes for college to pro… The exact oppisote can happen also. A 3-star in HS can develope on the college level and be a star. Ratings on a lower level are a crap shoot for the next level…

My point is coots got whipped. Then someone half a@@ says clemson is on a slide because of ohio state? Did spurrier beef up his line? November we stomp the upside down roach

I believe it’s safe to assume that CU is a program on the rise. SC, not so much. I had lunch today with a table of SC supporters. To a man, they all said spurrier should have left last year. They also said every year spurrier stays is a year lost.

Momentum and hype play a big factor with kids in the recruiting world. Be it positive or negative it’s a major factor.

I’m a lifetime Clemson fan. I agree the program is on the rise. The future looks better than it has in years. SC, well they had a rough year last year, and this year doesn’t look much better. I think Spurrier quit two years ago, but the facts remain that they are only one year removed from three eleven win years in a row. Clemson is one year removed from five ass whippings in a row, and one play away from losing what I believe will be the best player we ever had. I’m not ready to do a lot of barking yet.

7sc, that is a realistic way to look at things. I’ll say this for you and a couple of other Tiger fans. You guys are here win or lose. There are a couple others that are like that little cartoon dog that runs around the bigger dog agreeing with him all the time. Pitiful.

HarryD. I think you misunderstood my post. I was saying lines win games. Clemson played well because of their line especially defensively. Ohio State won their games in the trenches. I mention Ohio State because they won the Chanpionship. Not a fan at all. Flash like Ray Ray is great kind of like Pharoah for the Gamecocks, but the big boys up front win the big games.

Ok you got me Deon Cain,Mike Williams, Artavis Scott, Deshaun Watson, Wayne Gallman,is that enough flash to counter act Pharoah. …just talking trash and having fun #128514;

Yes you have great weapons. I am not comparing the two programs. I was talking about being able to dominate the line, which South Carolina could not do last year and all of the skill players can mask some of that during the season, but not in the big games. You need your Ray Ray, but you have to have the guys up front to win big tight games. salty said that has become a focus at Clemson and if they get it right they will be scary good. Oregon is a prime example, they have guys that can fly everywhere, but they struggle when they are forced to try and control the line of scrimmage.

Have you seen the OL recruits? That is being addressed. We get it.

Talk to players on the team(relative has seen action on the field past 2 seasons) and they are constantly questioning the recruiting and coaching among each other. They are very frustrated.

I don’t have much issue with the article. I think it preaches to what I have said for a long time. 1 is that grading recruit and recruiting classes is mostly useless. 2nd is that the TV contracts are allowing a better playing field for the smaller schools.

Recruiting classes do matter, look at 3 out of the 4 teams that were in the playoffs last season. 3 of them have had top 5 classes for the past 3-4 years. Look at the past national champs, all have at least multiple top 5 recruiting classes.
