All this recruiting hype gives me a good chuckle.
While it is nice to see who your team signs, I never get too excited until I see all the hype parlay to great play on the field. Too many 5 stars disappoint and often it is the 2-3 star that produces (Connor Shaw).

The walk-on players win National championships (Hunter Renfrow)

Absolutely. It’s all about developing players and determining which players are green and growing as opposed to ripe and rotting.
There are surprises and disappointments, but those head coaches and assistants don’t log that many miles and hours for nothing.
How many NC contender teams are built on 2-3 star recruits? Sure there are busts and surprises like Renfrow but the majority of teams competing year in and year out are those with top 10 recruiting classes. Oklahoma State and Wisconsin could be considered the exception to the rule but, they don’t ever seem to have the horses to make it all the way. Credit their coaching staffs though for developing their recruits the way they do though. It takes both coaching and athletes.
Curious though, how many of you think that Clemson is on the decline and SC is cycling in after the signing days? Looking on paper, I’d say the gap has grown, not shrunk.

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn’t go so far as to call a dog filthy but they’re definitely dirty. But, a dog’s got personality. Personality goes a long way.

I’m still trying to figure out how Dabs went from losing 5 in a row to the lowly gamecocks to landing top recruiting cla$$e$.
After being released, a lot of fish die, but a lot of them live also.

If you look at the national champions, and look to see what they all have in common it is top 10 recruiting classes.
Recruiting matters, but so does developing players. They’re only 25-30 5 Stars per class, so of course you are going to have disappointments.

The disparity is large, and growing. I don’t believe I saw any recruits that CU offered, that SC got. When I look at CU targets and see who has been offered I see SC’s name a lot. All are in this region. I’m sure SC got some good players. I watched Boom’s presser and he is hopped up on the Joyner kid. It’s interesting that CU was interested in him as an “Athlete” and not a QB. Did any other schools recruit him as a QB?
I think Arkansas will be interesting to watch. The Chad didn’t even break the top 50 in his recruiting class. I wonder how they will be this year?

They ain’t paying the players, they paying the coaches.

The whole university has bought into Football being successful, not just the AD. They see that when Football is successful, it makes the university better as a whole.
And we started bringing in top tier players in the trenches.

Jimmy and Joe’s are a reality… However, when you get to the top 4 the better “real” coaching and play calling starts to get amplified…
Clem got lucky on the Lane Kiffin gap at Bama… With the illegal rub route and Lane Kiffin’s absence as OC at Bama last year…
That’s reality, and why I now believe Bama wouldn’t ever hire Dabo after Saban is gone… Too many better coaches out there… Bama can recruit without all the Dabo salesmanship…

Lane Kiffin had nothing to do with last year. Alabama scored as many points on offense as they had averaged during the season, and that was against the best defense they faced. Their offense was fine.

Lol, get out of here with illegal rub route. NFL and College teams run pick routes all the time. As much as you do not want to believe it, Dabo will be a front runner for the Bama job once Saban decides to retire. You don’t need to be a X’s and O’s HC, that’s why you hire coordinators. Dabo is an administrator, and it seems to be working out just fine.

That illegal rub is all they have. Not one official threw a flag. One thing for sure though, if it was illegal and you get away with it once, a smart coach runs it again. He did.
It was an illegal play… Accept it…
Reality is both of Clem’s NCs are tarnished with controversy… Both were obtained with illegal activities…
Lane Kiffin was the difference as it would’ve never come down to the last cheating play with Bama up by 14 or so…
Why the heck would Clem pay the assistant coaches/coordinators more this year for get whipped by Bama and The ExCuse?? Brings Clemsoning back to a whole new level… Paying the highest salaries in the country for under performance…

Lets just pretend for a second that the last play was illegal. Name me one team that has won a championship without having a missed call against it, you cant. Hell they missed 2 targetings against Bama in 2015. Should Clemson rightfully deserve that Championship?
Either way it was a legal play.
USCjr any school in the country that could afford to pay what our coaches get paid for the success they’ve had would gladly fork up the money. Michigan forks up loads of money to barely beat the coots in the toilet bowl.
