Redneck from TN

Just as it says…Couple rednecks (me & son)are coming over from TN to H. Head. Actually wife is coming along but thinks a vacation is not a vacation unless your door opens to the beach. Me & the boy mostly fish the tailwaters here in God’s county for big trout and stripers & would rather catch our rays on the water w/ rod in hand. Gonna haul a 16ft Aquaforce and are hoping to get on some backwater fish.

Looking for a place to dock the boat (Skull Creek?)and poke around for reds, trout & maybe Jacks in Trenchards Inlet. That’s the plan for now, but as long as my arse ain’t roasting on the beach, I’ll be good to go.

We do wear shoes, don’t smoke corncob pipes and aren’t stupid enough to think we’re just going to show up and start slinging fish over the rail. Need some advise on where to dock the boat, get up some bait and great creeks to explore. We’ll be in town end of July-1st wk Aug.
Post back or e-mail jmcb@comcast.net…Thanks

Skull Creek is probably your best choice if you need to dock the boat. However they are a dry dock. Must call them and ask.

I’d recommend going to Moss Creek bait shop for bait rather than trying to figure out where/how to catch bait. You can buy live shrimp for spot tails or fiddler crabs for sheepshead.

Yea, we’re going to be able to fish 3 days so I might just tailor the boat and find a marina launch for a couple bucks. We’ve only fished inshore a around Tampa with guides but bringing the boat and thinking of going solo this trip to H. Head.

From looking at maps, seems like Trenchards Inlet would be a safe area to navigate and good water to hang out for a couple days. I guess we we will coming from Skull Creek & would appreciate any info from members familiar with the area.
