Reds around Edisto

A friend is coming down this weekend to hopefully find some reds & trout around Edisto. I’m really not into the inshore thing so I wasn’t sure where to tell him to go. Any good places around Edisto so that I can point him in the right direction?

The creeks are full of bait and fish. Tell him to take a cast net get some shrimp by throwing the net near the mouths of small marsh drains into the creek. Put on a sinker a hook and throw around any trees, rip rap or docks.

there were two really big bass caught last weekend at the sandbar where the South river dumps to the ocean (near the C can)

KNOTHEAD

Fairly new to all this, but I was down last weekend and we did just about exactly what Striker said above and caught plenty of bait. Had some real nice shrimp. Ran into a local guy who also suggested live shrimp, but we actually did better on the reds with mud minnows. Got a house down there with a few friends next weekend and gonna give it another try.

Where is the best place to hook a live shrimp when fishing on the bottom? I think we may have been killing them…or is it even critical that they
are actually alive as long as they are fresh?

Any advise is much appreciated…Thanks

Fish will eat shrimp dead or alive. But, if you have live shrimp, they will certainly work better. Don't put the hook in the body or tail. Slip the hook under the horn on the back of the shrimps head. Kind of near the eyes. You don't need a big hook. Small hook under the horn and they will live for ever (til they get eaten).
