Reds in NJ

I’ve been reading reports about the Redfish they have been catching in the NJ surf for the past couple of weeks…go figure!! I’ve fished the Ocean and Monmouth counties for most of my life and never saw someone catch a Redfish.

Any pix of these ‘redfish’? Sometimes people from different areas call different fish the same thing.
It’s surprising that they’d be catching reds up there as the water temp as got to be well below their comfort zone.

In NC a spot is a croaker, in LA or TX, sometimes a spot is a spottail bass (redfish).

Yes. Go to Betty and Nicks web page and you will see some pics

I searched and could not find any.

OK. go to surfcasters inc on Facebook and you should be able to scroll down to see one caught last night. Sorry that the pics were not on Betty and nicks. He post current, same day pics.I guess it’s better for business.Believe me, they are redfish up to 30 some inches.

If you do see pic by Jay Hsu you will see moco. That stands for Monmouth county

I don’t doubt it. Soon we will have snook here. And we will all be under water :0

Last year a large red (30+ pounds) was caught at the Charlestown Breachway in Rhode Island. I didn’t believe it, but saw the picture. This year a surfcaster caught a sailfish in the Cape Cod Canal.
