What are the best performing reels you can buy from anywhere between $45-$75? Thanks.
I have 2 pflueger president reels they cost about $60 bucks. They are the 3000 size loaded with power pro braid and have served me well. You get what you pay for when it comes to reels but for cheapies these reels have been great.

Wright McGill sabalos are great little reels. I would pay the xtra $$$ for a stradic. IMO
I suggest: baitcast- the abu garcia 5500c3 is a great reel. especially if you get an old one off of e bay or somewhere. I have one that was made in the 80’s and it still works as good as new. the drag clicks when it is pulled. i also have one that was made in the 90s that is good but not like the older one. the drag does not click on this one. I also have the bigger 6500 and it’s old too and still working perfectly.Have to change the worm gear and paul every 5 or so years but its cheap and very easy to do. spinning- the penn battle is about 85 bucks i think and from what i hear they are great reels. any shimano in that price range should do you well in bait cast or spinning. i have a 25 dollar shimano sienna and a 200 something dollar stradic ci4 and you can for sure tell a difference in all aspects but that 25 dollar reel is still working perfectly after 6 years. if you rinse them well (dont spray with high pressure and dont submerge) and keep them oiled and greased, any of the above mentioned reels will perform well and last you a long time.

Shimano siennas are pretty amazing for the price, I have an older stradic which has been good to me, amazing you can get a reel that nice for so cheap.
I have a Shimano Sedona that has performed every bit as good as my Symetre.
I bought a couple of Okuma Trios on TooBusy’s advice. His have been used guiding for a couple of years. I love them. They are advertised for saltwater, metal where needed and graphite elsewhere. The 4000s weigh nothing, have a great drag of 20#, 10bb. I’ve learned not to trust manufacturers’ advertised line capcities but I go 300 of 15 power pro and 220 of 20 on my 11 ounce 4000s. They were just supposed to be a cheap trial at the 4000 size with plans for Battles at other sizes. Just couldn’t find to reason to go ahead with the Penns and ended up getting more Okumas. $50 on ebay.
The Okuma’s are $80 on ebay unfortunately. I have a shimano and love it but i need to get 2 or 3 more 4000 size spinning reels for reds
I have 2 Shimano Sahara reels in the 3000-4000 range and they are awesome reels. These run $79.99 each and mine are fished pretty hard and I have had ZERO issues with either of them. My oldest one is 4 years old +/- and a good rinse after each use is all I have ever done to it. In that price range, they are tough to beat. IMHO.

Pair that sabalos 3000 series with one of their fine flats blue rods and you can have hours of enjoyable time getting out your wind knots !

Wright and McGill flats blue and sabalos are 100 each, if I’m not mistaken

Shimano Sedona or Okuma Trio
I have not fished with the Trio but you can bet if Toobusy speaks highly of them they are good.
Very simple for me. ABU Garcia baitcasters and Penn SS series spinning reels. I have several of each that are more than 15 years old that I still fish with regularly. In 25 years of lowcountry saltwater fishing I have never lost a fish due to a reel malfuntion with either of those reels.

gahlee so manny choices thanks JT that me makes me reconsider purchasing either. How much is a penn ss?
i have a sedona and a sienna but make sure you get a good size, I hooked up with a 37+ red the other day and could reel him hardly just too much for my little 3000 i believe, Id def go with a 4000

I’ve landed some huge reds with my 3000 size reels… Never even questioned their capabilities
