Remleys Point Horrific Parking Job

For those fisherman who frequent RPBL, you know this is unacceptable. Sheila parked in almost the very middle of where we pull in to align our trucks and trailers for backing down. The images speak for themselves. There was NOT a note on the truck to indicate it had broken down. The Mt P Police arrived with the hopes it could be towed. But they could not do that based on liability. However, Sheila did get a ticket. Does anyone know this person? Like many others, we had to wait for a marked parking spot to open up after we put our boat in. So we waited and one came available. That is how the process works. Don’t be a Sheila!!! (I do apologize if there is an actual Sheila who reads this thread and is not associated with this parking event.)

That’s just strange. Why would anyone in the boat biz do that?

Quick water test, or demo. for customer? Still not acceptable!

Someone should call that number and ask the owner if they were drunk when they parked. That was inexcusable unless the truck died right there.

Being someone that uses Remley’s almost exclusively, I wish I could say this is a first but sadly, it isn’t. I’ve fished all over the southeast and up to Maryland and I can say that some of the worst ramp etiquette I’ve ever seen has been at Remley’s. Most goes beyond poor etiquette and straight to absolutely clueless. The dam at Lake Murray is a close second.

That shop should’ve received a call right then and there to find out who was driving the “company vehicle” and then they should’ve been informed of the poor representation of the company on display at Remley’s. Absolutely unacceptable. That picture is the epitome of ZERO <five letter expletive that rhymes with ducks> given.

Hey guys. Not the owner of the truck but I was with him Saturday morning. Along with the owner and myself was his 75yo father and a freind of his dad’s. His dad backed and parked the truck that morning and if any of us had realized where he parked, he wouldn’t have parked it there. A mistake on all our parts. The owner is very sorry this has happened along with embarrassed not only for himself but his company.
At 3am, other boats putting in was alot of activity and the owner never thought he needed to make sure his dad knew how to park a boat and trailer.
The ticket that was given, not only to the truck but his dad as well, was way to low for the problem this caused.
This man is an avid hunter and fisherman and to still have a father at age 75 that can still take a beating offshore fishing, is a very fortunate man. His father made a mistake not the owner and at no time did he think he needed to check to see if his dad knew how to park a truck and trailer properly something that he has done his whole life.

Way to man up to this mistake! Hope I can get on the water at 75. Your story should easy up Cruiseman’s frustration on this instance. . I do understand the frustration though. Boat/ramp etiquette is severely missing with many boaters.

I could only imagine being a charter captain having to make a living dealing with public boat ramps on a daily basis.

I’d personally take down the pics after your explanation. dookie happens

“His father made a mistake not the owner and at no time did he think he needed to check to see if his dad knew how to park a truck and trailer properly</font id=“red”> something that he has done his whole life.” From the evidence in the photos, he (the Owner/Captain) did make a mistake, by not making sure his rig was properly parked, before hauling a$$ to the fishing grounds.

Come on Mixed…I couldn’t tell you the times I’ve parked my boat or someone else’s that I was fishing with and just expected the right thing. I really believe in this instance hearing the explanation it was a genuine mistake. I guess what would have been the proper thing was to have our law enforcement to tow the rig. Not sure why it wasn’t?

Agree with Fred … Give a senior the benefit of doubt, for one day it could be you [:0][:0]:smiley::smiley: I myself on my first visit to Shem misread the entrance and came in against the flow and you all know there is no turn around room there…:imp:

Just goes to show no matter how many years of experience we have under our belts, being in a hurry can lead to mistakes. Thanks for owning it. Respect.

Thank you Clayton for taking responsibility as the Captain of the vessel. Which carries not only the liability of the boat, crew, and protecting other boaters on the water, but also the truck and trailer. Too many people today are quick to “point the finger and not the thumb” as my Dad used to say. Your maturity is greatly appreciated. I do hope that you and your Dad had a successful trip. If in the future, I find myself in need of a mud motor, I will reach out to you based on how you handled this.
