Requiem Fishing - Sharks are still here!

Hey all,

Been a few weeks since we posted up a report. We took a trip to SE FL and had some action. Nothing crazy, but road trips are always fun.

Blanding, Dan and I left Charleston Friday at 4pm. We arrived to Sebastian inlet to meet up with Garrett who had already landed a few jacks and ladyfish so we could start floating baits out immediately.

Here is a short video of Garrett’s friends Penn Torque 7 in action- unfortunately no sharks were landed on this night though.

First light came and we did manage to get a few bigger jacks on our 4000’s, which were the biggest we’ve caught to date. It felt like mine was going to pop my 20lb test for sure if I didn’t loosen the drag a bit. They weren’t even that big, but my bait reel gets a workout and a half in FL. Only place we cast gotchas, spoons and x raps non stop! We don’t have that action in Charleston.

We don’t sleep and go straight to the beach to find fairly violent surf. Not a lot happens other than everyone gets dumped on the way in. Blanding manages to hook one on his new Fin Nor LT 100 and is nearly spooled in the first run. Blanding tightens down pretty hard and muscles the fish in only for it to pop off the hook as we leader it and goodbye.

We go

Sebastian is my favorite place to fish hands down. Did you guys fish the south jetty? That’s where a lot of the sharks come out of but that place is infested this time of year. The bait store right up the road and the one about 15minutes away sell shark bait like Bonita and lady’s. The flats south of the inlet you can walk and cast net rays and big mullet.
