Return to Edisto

I haven’t been to Edisto Beach in years but have been invited as a guest on the weekend of September 29 -30 and that Monday, October 1st. In appreciation for the free lodging, I plan to take my hosts out to dinner. I recall a restaurant on the creek and I think it may have been called “The Dock Restaurant” or something like that and was near the Bell Buoy Seafood place. Is such a restaurant still there and is it still a good place for dinner? If not, any suggestions? Also, there’s not a place for me to park a boat where we’re staying, so I’m planning to fish from shore. Is Jeremy Inlet still a good choice for boatless fishing that time of year? Any other location suggestions for a shore bound slinger?

Dockside Restaurant is still there. If you really want to impress your host, drive 20 minutes to Hollywood to The Firehouse Restaurant. It is only open Wednesday to Saturday I believe. Worth the drive.
The Plantation Grille in what was Fairfield is very good.

You gotta love the South Carolina Lowcountry.

The Dockside is still there and very good, in my opinion the best on Edisto.

I am not trying to start a fight here but Dockside’s food being good is an overstatement. They don’t even use fresh seafood all of it is that crap from the food suppliers, farm raised or imported. Then again none of the resturaunts do so I guess I really can’t say anything about that. The Waterfront resturaunt on Jungle Rd does have a wonderful prime rib. Either go for prime rib or go to Hollywood.

Wasting time working when I could be fishing

Go to the Waterfront.

The only place that occasionally uses fresh seafood is Whayle’s (just shrimp)and its not always fresh shrimp. The only places I still eat at on the beach are the Waterfront, Plantation and once and a while Whayle’s. Waterfront has the best service and Whayle’s is good if you want to watch a South Carolina or Clemson game that is on paperview. They usually have all of them.

All of the locales are better now, less tourists.
