I may be getting a place for a long weekend in Ridgeland the summer. I have mainly fished in Edisto and Charleston so I really know nothing about the area. The house would be near Tuten landing. is anyone familiar with this landing and the water? It looks like the creek it is in is a tidal creek and goes dry it low. Is there another landing in the area that has water all the time? any info is appreciated thanks
There is a good landing close (about 10 minutes) to Ridgeland on Euhaw Creek, called Bolen Hall. Deep water all tides and great fishing area. That’s where I usually launch. About 10 minutes more will put you at the Cheechessie River landing at Lemon Island. Also a good ramp and good fishing.

thanks for the info Larry. How difficult is it to get to big water going through Port Royal Sound? It’s it well marked? Any sandbars or shallow areas?
thanks

Wouldn’t try to navigate those areas without GPS. Many shallow areas and no its not marked.

Both of those landings have quick and easy access to the Broad River and Port Royal on all tides. Bolen Hall is a few miles above the bridge and Lemon Island is a couple miles below it. But no, it is not marked at all until you get near the ocean and yes, there are plenty of sandbars and oyster bars. If you have a good chart and GPS plotter it’s easy enough. Take it slow when in doubt. Pay attention to the charts, don’t go blasting across any unknown waters. Broad River is not nearly as broad as it looks like sometimes.

I got a laugh out of that! Especially during low tide!
SCbigben, Tuten is a good landing to catch crabs at low tide! Really.
Thanks for the info on the crabs Fred. I will have to give them a try
