I have been tied up & stressed out because it seems like an eternity since I have been on the water. Yesterday, I got “cured”. Awesome trip with a couple of “pros”. I, on the other hand, stayed tangled up, snagged, and was rerigging for the first hour while they wore out the trout on various arties in a deep creek. I finally got my act together and starting catching trout by dropping a jig/good ol’ white gulp shrimp slowly off the ledge. We caught trout - some nice, some really nice, some shorts - until we got tired of catching trout (a first).
After trying several “cold holes”, we found a “hot one” and starting pulling nice reds on rattlecork/live shrimp till our arms gave out. Thanks to the skill of my fishing partners today, I got my “fishing fix” for a while and am cured of “cabin feaver”, at least for now!
Dadfsr; know what you mean,snow/sleet/freezing rain, my brother-in-law e-mailed my wife ;wanted to know if we would rent out our basement
apartment to him until spring!!! he lives in RI and is sick of the weather!!!
all gave some , some gave all–only two offered to die for you, christ for your sins , the soldier for your freedom!!!
Thanks for the replies all. Some go to shrinks when they get stressed out. For me, a good day on the river does me a world of good. All the stresses of daily life sorta disappear when I get on the river. I keep telling my wife the fishing is cheaper than a shrink. Sorta justifies the buckets full of money I spend on boats/fishing!
I was humbled this trip. I’ve been fishing the salt over 40 years. It is amazing how “rusty” your skills can get if you haven’t been on the water in a while. I stayed tangled up like a newbe to start with. But, I got enough trout/red therapy to heal my pride. It was an absolutely beautiful day on the water. I have “selective memory”. Seems like I only remember these type days and quickly forget the “waterhaul days”.
