Fished several sets of rocks for about 45min before work this afternoon and did find some trout but the bites were really soft, like they were just nudging the bait not really smashing it. Only caught 3 but pulled a couple more off and got a little blue so they were there. Probably didn’t help that the tide had gone slack either but oh well. Lost my jerkbait on a rock and called it. They are still out there to be gotten for sure.
Thanks for the report Surfwrangler, was wondering if anything still out.
what beach
Fished SI. But they should also be on some rocks elsewhere in the harbor and at inlets or folly beach when the conditions allow for casting to them. Some fish group out in the surf and inlets in the winter as deeper ocean water is more stable in temp than creeks. It really seems to be more about proper conditions for trout fishing that dictates when they can be targeted. I.e. Low surf, relatively clear but moving water. I don’t know. I am rambling, what I mean is that they are out there…sometimes…maybe…
