The simplest one I know of, and have one in my garage is this: Take a rope like a clothesline rope and staple it to a joist with loops spaced apart by about 6". Do this in 2 places and just put your rod inside on each end. Very inexpensive, easy, keeps the rods out of the way, and neatly organized.

Have this on my garage ceiling. Really like it. Out of the way, but easy to access.

that is good looking Indy…like how you have all the reels individually covered…can you reach from standing or do you need a stepstool or something? good ideas but I am prolly gonna have to go vertical with mine…

Indy’s my kind of fisherman. Took care of the fishing equipment before he got the walls painted.

I’d rather fish than eat.

A gun in the hand is better than a cop on the phone.

In God We Trust

I use a small step stool to get to them. Ceiling is 9ft. I think.

You can do the same thing on the wall, but I would cut a space in the board and cover the ends with felt cloth to keep the rods from getting scratched.
Check out Bass pro Shops for their selection.

A couple of years ago I ran across a booth at some show at the fairgrounds and the guy was selling good quality foam blocks similar to what you would ship computers in with pre-drilled holes in them. I bought one that is about 16x20 inches and stands about 14 inches high. It holds 16 rod and reels. It is space conservative and easy to move around. I would buy a couple more if I ever saw them for sale again.

I’ve seen them at Haddrell’s

I have the one that Indy has. Haddrells sells them as well as the foam block type which I use for the indoor rods. I also have a couple of the wood ones on rollers that West Marine sells.

big dog

milk crate…cut you some pieces of pvc…zip tie into corners and one in the middle of each side…will hold 8 rods standing upright with some storage area in the middle…can get the crates at stores like walmart, lowes .home depot, cheap and easy storage…easy to move around…also good for washing your rods off…then donnie also took a piece of wood and bored out some holes and stuck some pvc in also…different heights for different rods…

another tip…the cloth you see is actually a sheet I hang in front of my rods when the garage is open so people riding /walking by dont “scope” it out for easy pickings…esp this time of year

penfishn I have been doing the same thing for years now. I end up with a lot of milk crates at work and have found they are great for all kinds of stuff.

Karma is 360 degrees

and stack nicely too for tackle storage.

Many of you probably already have these but I take an old 5 gal. bucket with lid, cut out some holes to insert 1 1/2 PVC pipe, put about 1" of concrete in the bottom of the bucket and let cure. Very stable. Make sure handle is at the very top before inserting PVC and then you can carry the whole thing.

thats a pretty good product for the money. When I built mine I used 1X4's and PVC pipe cut to length, screw the pipe to the 1X4's and then attach the 1X4's to the wall. I will text you a picture of it shortly.

I bumped a thread on the “darkside” that shows pictures of some Rod racks.

good ideas y’all…right now I’ve got them mostly on nails horizontally on the far wall of the garage, but with the boat in there access is not that great…I like the piranha rack because you can put a bunch in there and hang from different heights, small rods, big rods and everything in between…

Please put that battery on a piece of wood. It will last longer.

Hey next time wave at me with all your fingers.

i have two of the piranha vertical wall mounts and they work very well very neat and quick. and they were on sale at bps last week
