Ross Saturday 5/2/15

Sooooo…since I have not seen posts from the Ross for Saturday or Sunday I am passing along some fishing info. Fished Saturday arriving around 8:30. Had some GPS and anchoring issues, coupled with the very poor decision of leaving the Sound with way too small menhaden and no Sabiki rigs on board:angry: Enough of my woes, saw about 5 to 6 cobia landed and saw one other swimming behind another boat. Did not see any spades , much bait or bird activity. I assume it will start gettng better and better as temps rise. There were around 16 boats fishing the Ross. Out best “catch” was a nice anchor with 20+ feet of 1/2" chain , as my sorry anchors ( used 3 different different ones ( Fortress, Danforth and a small anchor used as a grappling hook for the bridge section) with 3/8" of 15’ of chain) that was very, very heavy to pull up. Will be buying a new anchor this week and a anchor retrieval set up as 90’ is very , very, very tiring:smiley:

We were their Saturday as well. Arrived around 8 amand there were two boats but by 9:30, 15 boats. I didn’t see any landed but did hear a bit of whoopin and hollering one time. We had to leave around 12 so maybe those who stuck around were a bit more lucky. Lots of sharks and sea bass. We also had small menhaden and were unable to score any bait with the sabikis.

Thanks for sharing and posting.

What was the water temp? Thanks!!!
