Hey guys, brand new to the forum and surf fishing. Been out a couple times now and I’m hooked!
I was wondering if anyone does any type of routine maintenance to there rod and reels after a day in the surf?
routine after fishing, I will typically spray it gently with water (not on full blast as I have heard that actually shoves the sand/salt water into the reel?) wipe it down then spray with Penn Reel spray. Again wiping to cover
Put my rods in the shower. Rinse well with hot water. I rotate reels often, pull the side covers off and check for water and condition of grease, wipe rods down with a wet rag. Have some reels with 7-8 years of tough surf fishing still running like new.
