Running Deshaun

Why were they still calling designed run plays for Deshaun when the game was clearly in hand. He took some hard hits in that game and it looked like Gallman had the running part handled late.

Not sure. Why did Saban run Henry till the last 5 minutes of a blowout shutout?

When the game is hand, they are going to keep the ball in the hands of Gallman or Watson to prevent turnovers. It makes me nervous as well to see Watson take so many hits.

Henry doesn’t have a gimp leg like DW. Best to rest DW, Henry just started hitting his stride and is a beast. Compare the two, and ask an opposing linebacker who they would rather take on. AlmaBama’s LBs will be licking their chops at that chance with DW.

Gimp leg? What the hell are you watching? Man you need to quit hitting the Zima so early.

Why does DW wear a brace on a surgically repaired leg?

He has a gimp leg. That’s a fact. He would be even better if he hadn’t had the injury. DW has overcome it much better than Lattimore and has better motion. However, to believe that leg is not a ticking time bomb is irrational.

RBF

You RBF, are football illiterate. I guess you never watched many NFL QBs. Marino played with a brace for what, 15 years. And broke every QB record known to man. You sir, are an idiot.

And Marino was a running QB? And you compare DW’s arm to DM’s .

Marino had 61K yards passing, and 87 yards rushing, in his whole NFL career. DW had that many yard rushing in the first half last night.

That’s a FB IQ beyond belief…

RBF

No, I did not. He had surgery as a freshman at Pitt then had 4 more in his career on the same knee. I guess he played with a ticking time bomb from 1979 to 2001. All QBs have to run, esp. in the NFL. My point was, how could one of the best QBs in history survive with a ticking knee for 22 years. That was the only comparison I was making.

DW is not the same QB as DM. Marino had a hell of an arm. How would DW perform if he was only isolated to the pocket like DM? DM could move, but he never attempted to advance the ball other than with his arm. Sure, maybe he did a few QB sneaks, but you know what I am talking about. DW has done well due to his ability to run. With that goes the time for it to happen again.

RBF

Nice deflection. I’ll take that as you admitting you were wrong.

How am I wrong? I need details to understand. Seriously, I don’t get why DW’s knee isn’t a ticking time bomb?

A human limb is no different than a car. Once you start repairing things, it is never the same. I have yet to hear someone say that once they had something repaired it was better that it was originally. Not better than before, but originally.

I hope DW ends up being the Frank Gore of college football, but to say he isn’t gimp, and isn’t an injury waiting to happen is irrational.

I am not sure why you bring Henry into this. Pounding the ball with a 265 battering ram is much different than having your quarterback run the ball, although I would have probably let someone else run it if I were Alabama as well. If Deshaun gets hurt on one of those plays your chance at a NC is over. I just think it is not a risk worth taking. Thanks for the sensible reply RAD.

It’s about ball security. Less exchanges mean less chance of TO’s. Watson got them there, let him finish what he started.

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn’t go so far as to call a dog filthy but they’re definitely dirty. But, a dog’s got personality. Personality goes a long way.

I’m with you on this on Andy. I wouldn’t have been relying on DW to run that late in the game. Keep him healthy at least 11 more days

Samaje Perine would disagree. Henry was at risk to get hurt all the same. Saban just wanted to let him get the single season TD record to go along with his Heisman and season TD record.

But I apologize. I forgot Bama players are chiseled from the rock of Mt Olympus and are unbreakable. Forgive me for even thinking Bama and Clemson players are remotely close in toughness.
