After about 6 years I’ve been able to find my way around the SHS pretty well, but almost everytime I go out towards the ocean following the channel I see either a shrimp boat or sailboat making a b-line towards the ocean (disregarding the channel). After looking at the chart it seems there are ways you could cut the markers, but I would have to think those shoals move around out there… but I’m interested to know if anyone has any insight, as it sure would save a lot of gas not having to snake all the way south through the markers. I hate that sound, I have always followed the chaneel out and still scares me, I would follow a shrimp boat out. if you are going to try something I would try it at low tide, you will be able to see the bars and if you get stuck u will have the tide coming back in.
