Looks like an absolute stud, better than stoudt, better arm, more accurate, great runner and more athletic. So excited about him.
I was really pulling for stoudt as a 5th year senior who worked hard, and played his part, but it looks like deshaun will give clemson a better chance to win.
Stoudt keeps under throwing his WR and almost threw 2 INTS yesterday. Waton was almost perfect with his accuracy, 3tds and 8-9. Know it was sc state but His first drive against UGA for the perfect 40yd TD throw showed he can handle pressure in general.
Maybe fsu is not the right time or maybe it is?
Either way the future is very bright with him behind center the next 2 or 3 years.
We all know I’m not a Clemson fan, but I consider myself a student of the game. I would start Watson. If they played a better defense stoudt would have been intercepted many times. Watson looks like a much better all around qb.
Maybe stoudt is a better leader so you let him start, but I would let Watson get more reps than he is now.
Didn’t see one bit of the game yesterday. Watson’s going to start as soon as Morris is comfortable with his command of the offense. No one knew what he was going to be like because of the spring injury. I’d say he’s ahead of schedule. When he’s ready, he’ll start.

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn’t go so far as to call a dog filthy but they’re definitely dirty. But, a dog’s got personality. Personality goes a long way.

From the little bit I’ve seen so far, I don’t think Clemson has had a guy like him taking snaps ever. His release is fast, ball has zip and precision.
I got to see a few clips today. SCST wasn’t competitive but they got to work on the offense. Stoudt isn’t bad at all, everybody’s favorite QB is the backup.

I am, of my son. I took him on his first dove shoot Saturday. Teaching him is way more important than a football game.

Georgia fan here… Deshaun Watson is legit. No doubt he has the talent to be the BEST QB IN COLLEGE FOOTBALL. As did many of you, I followed DW in high school and it goes without saying that anyone who can break pretty much every high school QB record in the state of GA has potential. I’m glad my DAWGS will not see him on the field again in his remaining two years at Clemson.
Don’t hate me for this, but starting DW against FSU is Clemson’s only chance - he simply brings an X factor to the table that Cole cannot.
I’m confused. Swinney didn’t say that Watson wasn’t going to play, he didn’t say that Watson wasn’t doing well or that he was behind Stoudt. He said Stoudt hadn’t done anything wrong to lose his job and that they would play the guy with the hot hand. Stoudt had a pretty good day Saturday from the stats, Watson too. If both of them get PT, doesn’t that make your depth that much better and give the opposing team that much more to prepare for.
None of the coaches have made it a secret that Watson is the future of the program nor that he would play.
I don’t know that one or the other has anything more than the other against FSU. From what I have seen of FSU this year, they aren’t as good as advertised and definitely missing Pruitt at DC. Then again, they could be holding back some for next week and come out and blow Clemson away. I certainly don’t think Clemson has a prayer of winning that game but I do think either one of them under center is going to do what they can and keep the game more respectable than last season.
