Sammy Watkins says the earth is flat- and it is

Sammy Watkins has sided with Kyre Irving on flat earth. Glad to see another great athlete with a podium is getting the word out. It’s time to learn the truth and take the blinders off. This world is not what we were taught it was. I am going to copy and paste an email I sent Phil kornblut on sports talk when he and his possie were laughing at and making fun of good old Clemson star Sammy for coming out and supporting flat earth. Here you go- more to come later

Hello there my name is mike from Charleston. I listen to the show quite often on way home from work and was so excited when You mentioned Sammy Watkins coming out the closet and revealing he is a flat earther- like myself. I think it is a horrific thing that people accept what they are taught in school without ever questioning it or doing their own research. Before you bash it and laugh it off as the most rediculous thing you have ever heard, you should legitimately do your own research. When I first heard of it I thought it was the stupidest thing I had ever heard myself. But when u truly look at the facts and research this with an open mind, you will discover things that will change your reality and make you question your belief system. I am going to give u some points and let u ponder them and then research them yourself if you wish. Here we go:

  1. The earth is round but flat. Like a frisbee or dinner plate. It is completely possible to circumnavigate east to west. The oceans are held in by Antarctica, which is a large ice shelf encompassing the entire outer edge. There is more land past the ice shelf, but no one really knows what’s there since the Antarctic treaty doesn’t allow anyone to freely go to Antarctica on their own. The artic, or North Pole is in the center of the earth. Google “Gleasons map” to get an idea of the flat earth map. No one has ever circumnavigated north to south, gone under the ball and come back up on the other side. They never have and never will because it can’t be done.

  2. Curvature. This really is the smoking gu

What do you really want to do about it at this point? What can you? It’s like babysitting for a bratty kid and then not getting paid…

Just with all the divisiveness in the world, I just hoped we could, you know, band together. Unite around our common cause of all making fun of this guy. It’s rare something like this comes along that could unite all of Charlestonfishing.

Fishboy - I’m unfamiliar with much of what you referenced in the first 3 points in your argument, although I’ll definitely read into them because I find this stuff interesting. At the very least I think it’s good to challenge your beliefs.

As far as the later portion of your argument, where you switched from being relatively objective to almost purely subjective, how do you account for the fact that the earth being round is a relatively new idea? I’m speaking to creationists here, because I’m thinking you’ve lost evolutionists already. And at the heart of it, I think your condemning of our current societal issues is more about a belief in God (or lack there of) rather than truly the shape of the earth. BUT, for arguments sake…creationists believe the earth and people have existed for ~6,000 years. The first suggestion that the Earth was round, not flat, came around 600BC, meaning the first 3,400 years of our planet’s existence, people exclusively thought the Earth to be flat. And it still took quite a while after those first suggestions for the majority of the world to accept that the earth is round. SO, your argument doesn’t account for all the violence that took place while religion, not science, ruled and the earth was thought to be flat? There’s even been quite a bit of violence in the name of religion, including Christianity.

Furthermore, I know and am friends with many folks that put aside any religion and believe purely in evolution. Given their beliefs, they would be predisposed to thinking black folks are “less evolved and more ape-like” (your words, not mine) than would a creationist, yet they look at everyone equally and condemn racism, sexism, and whatever other -ism you want to think of. Conversely, I come across folks raised in the church, go every Sunday, claim to be Christians, but don’t bat an eye at using racially or socially derogatory words like ng*r or fg*t. This seems ironic to me. How does the second half of your argument address this? I consider myself a Christian, but

I know science is hard - and it is…
I wonder why it is a crescent moon and not a flat shadow… I wonder why when you fly into space and look back at the Earth why it is not flat… I usually stay out of these conversations but I want to help bring some of you guys up to speed today. I hope this helps.

There are enough videos on YouTube of people who sent up a go pro on a weather balloon to conclusively prove that the earth is indeed round. Look it up.

I believe Sammy must have some killer weed and needs a flat surface to roll a big fat tight one… He is hoping the Earth can be his table…

Post an image of it over on the political forum and you are liable to shut down the site due to the volume of rebuttals… Might even break the CFC denouncement record with it too…
