Saturday 10/20/12 around Pinckney Island area

I chartered a trip and we fished the falling tide from 2pm-6pm all around the Pickney area. I had asked that we target trout and flounder and that we use artificial. I wanted to improve my fishing skills and thought I’d get some tips from my guide (Mark Mole). I’ve had success in the past with natural bait, but not so much with arties. I learned a couple new things that should help me in the future. We covered a lot of water, just couldn’t seem to find any fish interested in biting. Finally about 5pm, Mark said we would go to his “lucky dock” and catch something there. We anchored off the dock and started fishing with cut mullet on a jighead. Only caught one photo-worthy fish - a 24" red. Caught a couple more rats. Didn’t take any pictuures though. He actually hooked the 24" red so I didn’t want to have my photo taken with a fish he caught. (He did insist that I reel it in though…no problem there). All in all, it was a great day on the water. I would use Mark again and would also recommend him. He worked hard to put me on fish, and he’s a personable guy. The fish just weren’t cooperating.

If you’re lucky enough to be fishing, you’re lucky enough.
