A mess o’ trout, falling tide, mirrolure and doa shrimp/popping cork.

Billder,
Glad you had some success.
Edisto 9871 and I hooked up and fished the incoming tide from low tide to almost high and we made 3 different runs along the docks in russell with almost no success, 1 trout probably 10 inches.
We fished topwater early and the first couple of casts some small trout were trying to hit it, but they weren’t as big as the plugs,
then we threw grubs, doa’s, gulps live mud minnows, you name it.
Both of us are beginners and novice’s to inshore. I’ve personally caught some trout before but everytime I’ve had success it’s always been on a falling tide, which is when you fished yesterday.
From your experience do you have better luck on the falling tide or do you catch them on the incoming also? I’m coming to the conclusion that I don’t know what the hell I’m doing, but I’ll keep trying. I absolutely enjoy being in the creeks.
I’m at Edisto through Monday early afternoon. If you’re alone and want a fishing partner or teach a rookie, let me know.

First off, I’ve been fishing around Charleston almost all 24 years of my life but I am by no means an “expert” or anything like that. My family moved down to Edisto about two years ago so I’ve had to go through a little learning curve myself.
As far as tides, you can catch them at almost any stage. I think it may be easier on the falling tide if you don’t know exactly what you’re doing, because the fish are coming out of the grass and are concentrated in a smaller area. But I do fish the incoming and usually have success, it just takes a different approach.
I think my old man is going to be able to make it out with me this afternoon, so I’m going to try and spend some time with him. But tomorrow morning and afternoon I may go out if you’ll still be around.
I’m available if you are alone in the morning, if not no big deal I’ll just put in at the marina and try the south side. The wife’s got me heading out around 3 to go to Charleston for a new years gig.
I’m getting called away too, so no go on fishing this morning.
Baycreek and I had a great time on the water. No much luck with the fish, but it’s always good to make a new friend. I fished 2 more days and only caught 2 trout on the 3rd day, near the grass on the outgoing tide.
Getting skunked is more the norm for me. Therefore, I’ve also arrived at the conclusion that I don’t know what the heck I’m doing. Nonetheless, I absolutely LOVE being out there on the water. There’s not much better than that.

Here’ one trout I caught, just under 14 inches.

Great job guys. I really need to get back in the creeks to go fishing. Between holidays and family it seems that I haven’t had time. We should always make time to go fishing.

15ish, I guess, I quit counting.
I went this morning monday the 7th, we were going for reds but figured we might catch a trout or two by default, nothing. Gonna go try the rising tide now.
Rising tide before dark: Missed about five on the popping cork, to small I guess, got one 15 incher to the boat.
