Saturday

After a pretty good weekend last weekend, the skunk got in the the boat Saturday. Marked fish 50-80, trolling bucktails and u-rigs. I have got downriggers and I had everything right above their heads, but nothing would be bite. Marked a lot of fish between the towers and the dam. Nothing much in the channel until you get about 3/4 of the way to Spence. It has been like that for two straight Saturdays. Last Saturday they bit, though.

I can’t help but wonder if there is something painfully obvious I could do to increase strikes, but I just can’t think of anything I could be doing wrong.

What brand of beer are you drinking? It’s important! :sunglasses:

I was sitting at home saturday thinking it would have been a good day. Who knows, no one but the fish.

well, one thing is we only had lines in for 2 hours or so, because our hood ornaments had to keep peeing every 20 minutes, which doesn’t go well with trolling!

i think you answered your own question.

i suggest you fish for a few hours, then have the hood ornaments meet you at the dock with fresh bbq, more beer and extra ice. off load the fish (you will catch some since you won’t have to make runs to the portapoti every 20 minutes), load the hood ornaments and beer and cruise around.

put a toilet seat on a 5 gallon bucket. hood ornaments and fishing don’t mix. Fish 6 to 10 then pick them up like PP said.

That is what we often do, actually, as far as fishing early then coming to get them. No, they would squat off the swim platform, but it is crappy trolling like that, because you have to make sure you are in really deep water, because once you stop your lures start drifting to the bottom obviously.

put a life jacket on them throw them over make a circle and pick them up.:stuck_out_tongue:

sharky,
when do you start fishing murray again?

actually we have been doing alot better trolling found alot of fish spread out

tom it will probaly be another month.

How far up do you fish at that time. Just trying to figure out what went wrong for me after the lake turned over last year. I am pretty sure my problem was sticking to the lower end.

How deep are you? We were mostly around 45-55 because we were marking fish 50-60, but tried as high as 30 and as low as 80. bucktails, u-rigs, and spoons. and a berkeley power-bait Eel which works up North…nothing.

steely i fish from ramp3 to blacks bridge.

we fish roadrunner bucktails with the trailor worm at 50-60 foot going as slow as possable sometimes but a 5 gallon bucket out to slow even more

yeah, that is similar to what I do. Bought a trolling plate for the motor and works like a charm. Used to use a couple buckets also.

We just didn’t have any luck Saturday…did alright the weekend before though.

Explain the bucket method…how??? why??? does it work…??? what type bucket…

this is for us “beginners”…

thanks,

all you do is tie of a 5 gallon bucket to the cleet of the boat it adds drag to the boat slowing it down some times the fish like a slower presentation and you can get your lines deeper without them being so far back the bucket can also be used to slow your drift
