Scrimpin Report

Saturday Half Cooler, Mixed Bag… Friends, or so called friends now who I took last year was set up right on my numbers. Bastards… they coolered out…

Tuesday 2/3 on the Combahee bank. A lot of work…

I was set-up on some friends or (used to be friends) numbers from last year but only got half a cooler.

Hey scrimpin…want to borrow an 8 ft net to help you get more of those creek bugs? Think you could handle it?

Little Help? I want to try Edisto this year but don"t have a clue where to go. I know were to go for whiting fishing, but have never tried shrimping. Which landing? Which direction? Not trying to steal anyones “secret” hole just a general starting point would be a big help. It"s just closer than Beaufort. Thanks TAS>>:sunglasses:

From Big Bay Creek, run up the S.Edisto River to ■■■■■■■ Cut. Turn left back down the Ashepoo River and run out to St Helena Sound/Morgan River. You will find all the boats sitting on the Combahee Bank. Plenty of room to work anywhere. Watch the depth because at low tide a lot comes out of the water or is too shallow to cross.

I have seen boats shrimp right at the end of Big Bay Creek on the mud flat there. Good choice maybe for a short night trip.

Stand firm, be brave and keep the men at it.

Try either side of the mouth of St Pierre off the river.

The flat off Big Bay you need to get next to a channel or dropoff on a creek. Those spots go fast. Only had poor results up on the flat.

Have done ok on edge of the drop on point on Pine Island(where grass makes the turn) - straight across from mouth of Big Bay. Tide runs hard there. Sandy bottom and big shrimp. Flipper pizzed me off last time we were there.:imp:

I did fair first time out the owner of edisto watersports told me yesterday he saw a guy cooler out beaufort side of otter Island all huge shrimp during the day outgoing tide. I also had great luck on outgoing tide different location but I stupidly ran out of water. I was lucky to get out. Everybody is saying the other side of otter island is the honey hole but I don’t think you need to run that far.

There ain’t no shrimp on Combahee Banks!:imp::imp::imp: Well maybe - go to Bennetts Pt - much shorter ride.
