paintblend, don’t slow the mans roll. toppyblue seems to have some very fascinating views on…well…everthing it seems. I truly enjoy reading his posts. And my .25? on the hook discussion early, which kind of goes hand in hand with catch and release or not, limits no limits maybe. I am a die hard surf fisherman of 30+ years. I never use circle/octopuss hooks, ( I’ve tried them ) and for sure not stainless/nickle, or coated at all. I almost never “gut” hook fish with my J hooks and rarely gill one. If they do get it deep, they keep it. The hooks I use will rust free (fact) in a few days. All the reds that I’ve caught in the surf were hooked in the mouth and released very healthy. As far as limits, I fish for sport, maybe a big Pomp or fat Speck for dinner thats about it. The guys that make those rules know a lot more adout what the fish need than me. I saw a picture once on this site of some guys with a cooler SLAM FULL of 6-8" Whiting and smiling big. No limit so thats ok but really?

As Mad Mike stated in another thread, the guys in this area are serious about protecting their resources and have little tolerance for those who don’t respect the laws/rules/limits or don’t understand what protecting the resource means.
Even if treemydog and toppyblue are just being internet tough and saying things to antagonize (which I have no doubt they’re doing), guys here will fight back.
