Capt. Dave was on his way out when his clients started feeling “sad”. So the theme of the day was to fish for Sharks and Whiting. Must of caught 100 Sharks, but only brought 6 to the dock. The piece de resistance, however, was a mess of Whiting. Yum.

Maybe a dumb question, but whats the purpose of bringing the sharks to the dock? I know you can eat shark steak, but is it really that good? Any other uses??? Just curious…

Tried the cobia at the light today. Caught alot of Sharks(Some nice ones) no cobia. Never caught whiting before. How and where do you catch them?
I like to eat fried shark but I dont want a freezer full if you know what i mean.I also like to gut them as soon as i land them. I am more interested in the nice whiting. Several years ago we caught whiting like that in big bay creek but it was in august. I am thinking about trying the whiting on the sand bar heading out to the ocean. People have said that that is the place so all I can do is try it.I am heading down to edisto the 11th of june so if anyone wants to get together let me know.
Catfish
Whiting are excellent table fare. Costs $6.99 a pond in the grocery store. They are small but tasty. What they lack in size, they make up for in numbers (don’t tell the SAMF or they will go to 0 keepers because all at once we’ve over fished them). The state record is only a little over 2 pounds. Use a Carolina rig with a piece of shrimp. Fish the sandbars. I normally like to fish for them in 6-8’ of water. Good luck.
