“Living’s mostly wasting time and I’ll waste my share of mine”

I agree with the writer and his take on parity in college football right now. What he is saying is true, but that perception of the SEC being the king of football was built out of reality. Things don;t just happen because ESPN wants it to. ESPN jumped on the SEC bandwagon as it rose to the sports entertainment pinnacle. The SEC just happened to be the best conference at the time and it was that way for a good 10 years. Things are getting back to normal now as the writer states, but it takes time and results to change that perception. I admit, ESPN was over the top with it during those years, but to their defense, what conference was stepping up? They had Bama, LSU, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, and even Ole Miss, South Carolina, and Kentucky being good there for awhile. The ACC just had FSU. The Big 10 was down across the board. The Big 12 has fast starters like Baylor, TCU, OK State, and OK, but they all floundered when they started playing better competition. The same with the PAC 12. They were in love with Oregon for how many years? They kept them up there because they were fun to watch and scored a ton of points, but just like the Big 12, they fell when they played a defense. During that time no one had better defenses across the conference better than the SEC. As the writer stated, that is coming to an end now, but now you have the same fans (many of my friends) saying “see, I told you the SEC wasn’t all that”. Just because it is happening now doesn’t mean it wasn’t true that period mentioned above. It was just jealousy during that period that kept many of you saying the SEC wasn’t as good as they said it was. Well, yes it was! I think the NC run speaks for itself. To all those feeling like they have proved something saying the SEC is overrated for the last 10 years, bravo, you proved the age old standard of if you predict something long enough, it will eventually be right! Just recognize the SEC had a very good run in college football and now parity has set in. Give it time and the

I don’t read TigerNet, but the Big 12 is the deepest conference this year in my opinion. The SEC is down and the ACC is about like it usually is with two good teams and the rest average. Big 10 is overrated as usual, but does have three quality teams. PAC12 started decent but have fallen off in the last few weeks.

I think this year the Big12 is the conference to beat.

I will give you the Big12 has 4 good offenses against soft defenses. OK is the best defense of the 4, thus why they are the leader. They are the only one to play anyone somewhat decent outside their conference and that was Tenn. They end up with 4 teams that have good overall records that do not play anyone but themselves. It is just hard to tell what they have. I still may give them the nod as best conference this year though.
