I will be coming down next week and would like to catch or buy some live bait. Any pointers on where live bait can be found this time of year? Any contact info of locals who sell live bait? Thanks!
PM sent.
If you don’t have cast net, buy one and, practice plenty of bait in the creeks
Any particular creek that is better than others or a certain depth you look for? What should you look for when you search for bait?
Thanks again!
Pick up a minnow trap, bait with Vienna sausage. Put in any creek area, there is a good one by the parking lot close to the marina at Edisto. Mid tide is best, check about every three hours. Use styrofoam cooler and put it on concrete floor under house. Wet floor with sea water under cooler and they will live quite a while. Keep top on cooler, they wii jump out at night. Pick up a cheap aquarium air pump. It will help keep mud minnows alive for 4-5 days. Cast net good for mullet, but many creeks have oysters and will cut holes in net.
Better put a concrete block on the top, a koon will take the top off and eat every one and won’t leave a thank you note! Be back the next nite looking for more. Go to a shallow creek at low tide and walk the banks and look for nervous water! Throw the net and catch mullett, shrimp and menhaden and a crab or two, can’t beat a 1/2 crab for a big bass!

Any tips / tricks / or suggestions to keep the net out of the oyster beds?
Low tide
Bait is easy to come by if you are decent with a net.
