Headed out of the Marina at 9:00 on a mid rising tide. Plan was to run to the 60, as the report said it was a .03 x 12 day. Was expecting glass, but got heavy chop all the way to the 40, so decided to stop there.
Caught a Vermillion and Bluefish, and a few BSB, but the seas got too rough, so headed back to fish a few nearshore spots off the beach. There was a lot of grass in the water, and high tide spots that are usually sitting 18 feet, were at 25.
Grunts were in abundance, and we caught two Bonnetheads, a juvie Blacktip, but no Sharpnose. Plenty of Whiting to go around, too. We caught a Jack Crevalle and kept him on the boat long enough to identify him and look up whether he was good eating. He wasn’t, so he went back in.
The highlight was hooking a 5.5 foot Blacktip off the first can in the South Edisto. We brought him to the boat using my buddy’s pre civil war rod and reel, took a few pics, then cut the line.
Idalia seems to have disrupted the great Mullet run, as we didn’t see any off the beach.
Now its waiting on the Bulls to show up.
