Going to be visiting Edisto for the first time first week of September. Hoping to get in some surf fishing. Any thoughts or ideas of what i might take in or use to bring it in? Will be using a 10 ft w/ Okuma Av-65. In addition, where will be the best place for me to take the lady for some dinner so she gets the local flare?
I definitely recommend botany bay, no visitor to existing should miss it. As for eateries, the best part about edisto is there’s not a whole lot to do. Bring a propane burner and a big pot. Get some fresh shrimp and crabs and make a big old mess outside while you guys pig out. Nothing else better in my opinion.

Optiker is right about Flowers. I get asked all the time, “what is there to do at Edisto?”. If they are an outdoorsman, I tell them all the things to do. If they are not and they are looking for “traditional entertainment” (myrtle beach style) I tell them, "you wouldn’t like it…its boring-go to Myrtle or HH. Leave our salt tasting tap water and steep beaches alone. Don’t mess with the magic!

Bring drink, smoke, rod and reel. Leave all else on the other side of the bridge…it’s always there when you get back.

As far as places to eat, besides what has already been mentioned, there’s:
Dockside- on Docksite Road, next to Edisto Seafood–typical fried fish, shrimp etc
Pressley’s -at the Marina- good fried shrimp/flounder, usually a pretty good grilled or blackened special each day, and surprisingly good Italian (2 or 3 dishes) Also a good burger!
Whaley’s- on Myrtle St. at about block 29 or 30. Great appetizers! Typical fried platters shrimp, flounder, Oysters, etc. Also crab legs and boil pots. A good prime Rib sandwich, and specials every day.
WAterfront- on Jungle Rd. near the Surf Shop- only go there for the “all you can eat” crab legs or shrimp and the b’fast/brunch buffets on Sunday
McConkey’s Jungle Shack- great fish Taco’s, pretty good burger, good sandwiches and onion rings
Grovers- at the golf club inside Wyndham- probably the best food in Edisto beach overall, nicer place and pricier than the other places, but good.
The Old Post Office- on 174 near Store Creek and Botany Bay Road. Good food in a nice atmosphere, a little nicer than the other places—on par with Grovers
PoBo BBQ- Next to the Horizon Gas station on 174 on the way in. Good luch buffet, pork BBW, Fried Chicken, slaw, mac-n-cheese,etc.
Billows Pizza–next door to Whaley’s–take-out only, call ahead and pick it up…pretty dog gone good pizza!
