Shark bite

I heard about a shark bite over on Otter Isl… anyone else heard this?? Guy was re-setting his anchor and was bit on the leg, I did see a pic and it looked like a good sized shark, they were out of Dataw.

Bert,
I heard he was taking a group from DIYC or an outing - saw the pic - kind of scary -
Hope you and Julie are good.

Seen alot of sharks near the beach at Otter. My lab was bit last year in about 1.5’ of water. Pretty scary moment trying to get the bleeding to stop. We had to use ripped up towels. None of my first aid kits had a large gauze roll. By the time we got home we were able to remove the towel and the bleeding had stoped.

Went to Otter last week and got in the boat to grab a drink and there was a 4 footer right at the swim ladder. Water was real clear so when I peeked over the side, I spooked him. It was only about 2’ deep at the ladder. He seemed to be much larger have a broader head and larger girth than the usual sharks I see there. Guy was dragging a net right at the ledge about 40’ away. If the water is muddy, I always carry any kids off the boat just to be safe.

If you ain’t hooked, you ain’t doing it right.

Were you on the edisto side or st Helena side?

What about the shark bite, which side did it happen on?

Leaving in a couple of hrs for Edisto - don’t think we will be back after this weekend until Labor Day - work is pretty bad @ Dayco, but at least I am working!

Gotcha, that was where they caught that big Tiger Shark a couple of years ago. They weren’t far off the beach on that side.

Large sharks like to trail behind shrimp boats and many shimpers are in those areas.
