Heard that a woman was bitten while swiming off the beach around 900 block! Any one know what happened and how bad a bite? They don’t say “S” in these upstate papers and TV!
I was on the sound side of the beach that morning when it happened. Heard the sirens. My understanding is she had some puncture marks on the top and bottom of her foot that needed sutures and she is Ok.
honestly, I LOL at the media hype. She got a small nip from a tiny shark. Never saw it so who knows it could have been a bluefish. Edisto is covered up in sharks. Every so often someone is gonna get a nip by a shark who mistook a leg for a fish in the murky water. They will not keep me from swimming on the front beach. Now, that being said, I would not encourage anyone to ever swim around Pine or Otter islands. Those places are wild and a human is just part of the food chain, IMO.

It was probably some dummy from Ohio that stepped on a crab.

Exactly. The numbers of 8’+ sharks just my daughters alone have pulled out of the sound alone is frightening. I, too, often question whether some of the “shark attacks” aren’t bluefish or Spanish bites, particularly the really small ones.
If it’s “your time”, a shark attack is a pretty cool way to go. Great story for the grandkids.
If you’re lucky enough to be fishing, you’re lucky enough.
And if not, chicks dig scars. Especially shark bite scars!
