looking at coming to charleston to camp and shark fish next week but could use a little advise on the area and a set up. Looks like the north side of folly or IOP might be where I start after I head to the pier to catch some bait, or is there a good bait shop anywhere I can get live bait? Up in Virginia I use 100lb braid with a sinker slide then a steel liter and a 7/0 -8/0 circle off the pier but I’m switching to 65lb braid before I come down. What would be a good steel liter weight and hook size? Thanks for any help in advance.
The best place to shark fish in South Carolina is up in Myrtle Beach by the pier.
Any of the beaches will work - just try not to do it with people swimming around you - bad publicity.
Catch whiting or bait fish with shrimp, put that on your shark rig either half or whole.
The setup you are using already will most likely be fine. I use Owner 8/0 Super Mutu for my blacktip setups, or when I’m going smaller, an Owner 5/0 light circle for chunk bait.
Not looking to go to myrtle beach but thanks for the advice and thank iggy probably just over thinking , got the jitters to go get my line wet again lol

That Locals Only guy is busting your balls, it’s illegal to shark fish in Horry County.
Oh thats right, must have slipped my mind. Sorry.
Ha I got that, didn’t know it was illegal but I figured by his name that’s what the deal was.

Ya, it’s probably pretty bad publicity for Myrtle Beach to see a 7 foot sand bar pulled up on to the beach with all the kids swimming.
