shark fishing N. Myrtle Beach

I plan to shark fish in N. Myrtle Beach at night. I know about the ordinance and am willing to take my chances. I won’t be using heavy tackle. Spinning tackle and casting from the surf. Can 4-5’ sharks be caught in the surf up that way? Just wondering what you would recommend. Wade out chest deep and cast or use my SUP to get it out a couple hundred yards?

My suggestion would be Huntington Island state park south of myrtle beach. It can be really crowded but there shouldn’t be that many people there at night and certainly not many in the water. I was up that way earlier in the summer and did pretty darn good on big sharks. I was just swimming a live whiting out to where the water was 6-8ft. on the rising tide.

shark fishing is not legal in Horry County (north myrtle beach). travel down to georgetown county about 30-40 minutes away and it’s legal. huntington beach state park near the jetty would be a good suggestion to fish for sharks. the park closes to the public at 10pm. good luck

I will agree with james, I would head south towards Murrells Inlet. Travel hwy17s bus. turn left on Atlantic ave., right on S Waccamaw dr. all the way to the end, park and make your way to the back side of the jetty. Get there around high tide fish the fall. Should be sharks there. I personally would not “push” the rules and regulations. Just sayin’

follow parker’s directions. once you see dolphin street/ave, make a right and public parking should be available. once you park on dolphin, take a right onto the main road. you will walk about 100 yards. once you see the guard shack, there is a public access that you can take on the left. once you go down the steps, should take you about 10 minutes to walk to the north jetty. warning…high tide may trap you there for a few hours so be prepared to stay. you have lots of room to fish so enjoy
