Just thought I would inform everyone that there is currently a shark fishing ban being talked about and its going to be on all public beaches and may extend a little beyond.
I have made some post about shark fishing which I now regret because it is only fuel for the ban. I can only recommend not posting so the people who will get the sport taking away from them don’t assist the people doing.
Lets be honest shark fishing has a bad image and peoples fear of sharks will always sway the jury. The best way to go about this is what people don’t see they don’t know happens. I see 100 percent why old school sharkers were and are secretive.
The 1st rule of shark fishing never talk about shark fishing. Lol but seriously if you don’t want to have a negative impact on shark fishing around don’t post. Please spread the word. Help protect the sport.
What and where did you post? I’m sorry if this hurts feelings but ive been shark fishing folly beach for a LONG time and I’m gonna be pissed if a ban goes into effect because someone shot there mouth off! This is why I sold the kayak and went to all spinning gear. It doesn’t look good yaking out GIANT baits in front of swimmers for shark. No offence but if the way you butcher the English language and write your reports on here I’m very worried to know what you said somewhere else… We DONT need anyone trying to LEAD the charge in LBSF. Just leave it alone… You wanna do stuff like leave hooks in sharks and kayak out baits 100 yards from swimmers and then you wanna act like your all about keeping the sport around. Give me a break.
Lol “no offence”!! Your spelling and grammar are astonishingly awesome. Must be why you post videos instead of typing a report. I think your aggression towards 40 is weak and childish. Grow up! 40 is a great guy and fisherman. We all know you are a great fisherman folly, but I believe you should work on your character. The hilarity of your post has me in stitches.
Well they tried to ban folly not long ago. Horry county and parts of Beaufort have the ban. South Carolina does not report shark attacks and hospitals are told to keep patients privacy aka don’t say anything. Its common knowledge that though our shark attacks are minor in effect they out number everywhere. Hilton head in particular is the unofficial shark bite capital of the world. The main sharks that bite people are Blacktips and spinners in the surf casting range less than neck deep. Follyfisha is the perfect candidate to prove that black tips stay in the surf in feeding mode after a fisherman catches them in swimming range. He sharks fishes by people swimming. Follyfish claims to be a shark expert for the dnr and aquarium, you should see the nonsense he post on YouTube to anyone who catches a shark around here. Experts don’t act like clowns of conflicting opinions. I bet folly can’t even produce 1 picture with him with a shark over 9, probably not even 8. Legend has it you get popped off like 10 time before you land a fish. That’s a lot of trash. I swim in my spread all the time. I never set up around people, People arrive after and ask to swim by lines, lots of people see me and my set up and get interested. I educate them on the situation and they go cool I’m gonna hang around and see this. When someone hears your baits out 400yds their mind is blown and have know worries. I often let other people partake. The thrill a small shark can give a first timer is near priceless. I’ve never had anyone say a bad thing about a shark on the sand or what I do and I’ve put plenty on there around lots of on lookers. The worst you get is some funny looks from women when your going full Texas chainsaw massacre on your bait block.
As a side note we both know who catches what. Your at the bottom of the list. You fish the most and catch the least. The same person you get your info from we get info from ill spare you the details though. It sucks the dnr gets paid to fish with you, a poor use of our reso
Haha… I know all about you Corey! And first of all ive caught more Blacktips for DNR then all the other teams, so I’m not sure what your talking about. Also I don’t kayak baits because I have no interest in catching the big boys anymore… Ive got more experience with sharks in my left hand then you do in your whole body kid. All ive ever seen you post is Lemons Sharks, Lemons Sharks! Literally the easiest shark species to catch! They are absolutey everywhere. My 2 biggest sharks was my Tiger which was 8 ft and a Lemon that was 9.5 ft. And guess what??? Those were on Spinning Gear casted from the beach! DNR has been out with yall how many times!!! And how many Blacktips have yall provided!!! Exactly… So by your standards you guys are a waste of resources… You use Googan ass Walmart gear… I have yet to see any of you NEWBIES put a DECENT shark on the sand… When you post something OTHER THEN A LEMON… Let me know. GAYPex is a joke. I SURF FISH FOR BLACKTIPS… Its what I do, I don’t yak baits because I have no interest in catching the BIG BOYS anymore… I’m a Blacktip guy. I have spots where you can easily put 5-6 Lemons on the beach in one night… Its not impressive. Lemons sharks take ZERO skill to catch. Same with Bulls. I know all about the gear yall use… Where yall fish… Look at yalls Instagram… For a group that doesn’t catch anything decent yall talk a lot of ****. THIS IS EXACTLY WHY I went to just Surf Fishing… Everything is a pissing contest… The first thing yall wanted to do when yall showed up was have a tourney… I mean really? No one gives a **** dude… Go catch your Lemons and beat your chest… I shark fish because ive spent my WHOLE life studying and working with sharks with several different organizations not just DNR. And NOAA doesn’t count, My 5 year old could tag for NOAA, they will send tags to anyone… You guys do EVERYTHING NOAA says NOT to do in there Regulations for shark fishing… You cant get the hook out of that big bull but you can sure pose for pics! You
I don’t understand his statement about DNR wasting there time with me. I have more Tagged Blacktips out there then all the other teams combined. Just saying… Your statement is invalid.
Can someone tell me where to get these sharks an exact spot cause i cant seem to find them lol i have gone all around ft mountrie halfway down sullys and caught 2 small sharks thanks ive got my popcorn as well
Daniel 1 pic is worth a thousand words. Any picture with you and a shark over 10ft would prove a lot.
Sounds like your big fish you mention is a 9ft lemon, so is mine but that’s just stepping stone toward a real big shark. I don’t make false claims and make up stories, I just started targeting sharks last year. You’ve shown zero proof of your shark expertise, other than posting some stuff that makes you look anything but professional. YOU CANT TELL A BLACK TIP FROM A SPINNER To me it is odd that you mentioned 5 yr noaa tags that’s right after requiem posted a lot and I know your a big fan of theirs… Its okay they inspired a lot of people. I would love to see any proof of your shark expertise prior to 2012. Anyone fishing for a big shark laughs at a 8 ft tiger they don’t fight at that size and neither do the lemons. 1 smedium tiger shark and 1 big lemon seems strange to mention when you’ve been there and done that with the big shark thing. Those aren’t even big sharks to a shark fisher. We don’t fish for the lemons and bulls either but we are happy for any fish on our way to the big one.
You say we use 50s and 80s which Wal-Mart doenst sell but then say we use Wal-Mart gear. You fished Penn pursuit Wal-Mart combos for years check your post.
I don’t like leaving a hook in a fish, I know one hook got left and I let everyone around know how I felt about it, sounds like you heard about that. Not sure if it was in the giant 9ft bull shark that impressed the DNR guy you admire or it might of been left in a 9ft lemon, but I’m assuming that’s your angle on that. In my lifetime I’ve only been on the beach for 2 hooks being left in a shark both were mentioned and highly upset me because I have thigh standards and prioritize the fish over everything. but have removed dozens left from other people. You break off all the time with full rigs, weights and line from fishing to light of a setup and to short of a leader. Expert.
You’ve fished with the DNR like 50 times and caught like 5 fish total. W
I don’t understand why your not getting it! I don’t have any interest in catching big sharks. I enjoy catching Blacktips… I don’t know whos telling you that I break off all the time because the DNR guy sure wouldn’t say that because I rarely break off… They have been spitting my hooks on there jumps… That’s it. For Blacktips I use 20ft of 150lb mono tied to my braid with an FG knot and 2 feet of #15 wire… I know how to rig… Go to my Facebook! Go to my Instagram and look at my pics… I am a Surf Fisherman who enjoys catching sharks on spinning gear… Talking **** to me about not catching big sharks does NOT bother me because I’m not targeting them. Yeah I used Penn Pursuits for a while because I didn’t need anything crazy for tippers. I am now using 2 Daiwas but anyways… You said that yall caught 9 Sharks with DNR, GOOD FOR YOU… here is the problem… They were the WRONG SPEICES… DNR is doing a Blacktip Shark study, DNR has no interest in your Lemon and Bulls for there project. Ive caught 7 Blacktips by the way and hooked 17. We have had some bad luck latly with them Jumping the hook but that happens when you target them… And the only reason I was confused about that Spinner Shark was because the DNR guy said it was highly unlikely because spinner tend to stay offshore… Yes I worked at the SC Aquarium for a few years… Yes I approach shark fishing from the scientific point of few… Its not about catching big fish and beating my chest. I don’t really care what you think about the fish I catch… I also don’t POST EVERY SHARK I CATCH! I have logs that go back to 2012… In 2015 we caught 52 Blacktips from April to November. That’s why DNR emailed me back in 2016 about this project because I catch TIPPERS. Please by all means go catch your Lemons… Go kayak your baits 300 yards and have a great time! Just know, I don’t give a **** about what you think about my fish… You talked **** about this project with DNR on my posts here before… and the next thing I know APEX is getting involved, hah
