We’re taking a family trip to Edisto Beach the last week of July and would love to put some family members on some sharks. I’ll have a 17’ center console. Any suggestions on where to try for some 2-4’ sharks? Best bait? Thanks in advance.
Get some mullet, menhaden, or croaker and cut you a chunk and set it on the bottom anywhere out in the south river channel. Try deep then try up on the bars. I would setup on the bar that runs closest to the beach from the red buoy (that used to be a piling) back up river. Get some shrimp or squid and set it out for whiting as well. Caught some big roe whiting a couple weeks ago.
Anchor on the point of St Piere and The South Edisto and fish on the bottom with menhaden or mullet be sure to use rod holders or hold on tight to your rods. Use 80 # leader and 4/0 circle hooks. Lots of black tips!
Also if you go out N Edisto try the rip at the mouth of Westbrook Creek. sp? First creek on right heading out of Steamboat toward ocean. There are some there well over 4’ too! Another spot is on the drop off the north side of Deveraux Bank.

S. Edisto on ledge adjacent to the sandbar at Pine Island, pretty much straight across from the mouth of big bay creek. I anchor on the ledge and put baits right along the ledge and hold on! It will keep you from ever considering wading that bar I’m tellin ya

You are coming at the right time to the right place. They are everywhere. Cast for some menhaden which are all up the S Edisto, anchor off the bank, egg sinker, circle hook and you are golden. Enjoy.
