Shark ID

I was looking through some surf fishing pics from last year, and curiosity got the best of me – now I’m trying to figure out what type of shark this was. It’s not the greatest picture (night time), but hopefully one of you guys with a more experienced eye can help me figure this out. It was right at 73" – I caught it on my Penn 550ssg, but the fight took a while because the fish was hooked behind the pectoral fin. Fish was released and didn’t seem to be much the worse for wear.

My buddy was guessing either dusky or sandbar. What do you guys think?

Looks like a very nice Sandbar. Great catch!

Sandbag shark, looks good.

Thanks for the compliments and the ID! I didn’t even think to look at the teeth when I landed it, since I wasn’t targeting sharks specifically. It was last year around this time (I think Halloween weekend), and we were fishing for big reds in the surf. It got foul-hooked (pectoral fin) on the smallest reel any of us had out, so the fight took a while.

Here’s my best red from the same trip:

That is a very nice and big red . I wonder what it weighted .
