Went out Tuesday and Wednesday looking for Blacktips, ended up with 2 Lemon Sharks. 6.2 Ft and 6.5 Ft. Both caught on Spinning gear in under 5 mins. Fun fight but not the right species for the research project. Oh well… The 2nd Lemon we pulled a pretty “googan” looking rig out of the other side of its jaw. Judging by the size of the hook this person was attempting to shark fish. But was clearly not very knowledgeable in rigging for sharks. Educate yourself before trying to catch sharks people! Both Sharks De hooked and Released!
LOL! Not sure whos it was but it was about 12 Inches of Coated Cable and about a 16/0 Mustad Circle hook… And like 2 ft of braid tied to it. No shock leader at all, which I probably why the fish broke it off.
Yep I caught it first.
I’ve popped 2 fish of all year and 1 was like a 4ft tipper which I am confident died from wrapping up so much line and leader when jumping and spinning. The second was either a tarpon or tipper it was to dark to see, it jumped the whole time I fought it like 30 times and popped me off at half a spool from either a guide issue or o much drag when it charged so its got a 100yrs of braid 20ft of 100lb a 12oz egg an 9/0 circle so its probably dead to which is a bummer because it didn’t feel like a tipper. It felt like it was jumping vertical instead of horizontal like tippers do. I wasn’t shark fishing either just .
