Because the water is warmer than it should be are there any sharks or bull reds around or have they been replaced by coldwater dog sharks and stingrays? If so what methods to use and are they around the beaches or in the estuaries?
Water temp in the surf zone is, on most beaches, around 60. Bull Reds? Maybe? Sharks? Doughtful. The Red Drum spawn is done for the year I’m guessing, regardless of water temp. Caught a fat Bonnethead in mid November last shark I hooked. Next chance for a big Red would probably be mid-end of March when they start coming back in from the reefs. Your best hope right now would be a bunch of big fat Whiting, healthy Black Drum and lots of Stingrays. The occasional Speck is not out of the question and the Rat Reds can gang up in surf sometimes too. Heck…just go,

In the right location you can catch nice reds, in the surf, in January some years. They are never really gone in or near the right spots.
