Hit the beach at 10 something first line dropped at about 11 about 400yds, its a 100ft rig with 7 inline circle hooks equally spaced. Its my bait rig to catch a fresh live bait quick, but in the winter I would consider it just a odds increaser. 2nd line in at like 1 took 40 minutes to complete the drop. Perfect spot dolphins birds and bait about 700yds out. My reel man fell asleep with my reel in free spool and like 300yds off I hit a mess of line and can not get it untangled or knocked of the bottom of the yak. About 70yds out I look up from messing with the line because the change in rhythm of the swells told me a wave was coming. I look up to a monster wave about to curl on me and I’m side ways parallel to the beach from messing with the line. I get smacked so good it spun me side saddle in the seat but the yak stays parallel to the beach and I surfed it all the way in side ways. Once on the beach I had to pull the line of a oyster slice on the bottom of the kayak. Perfect drop wasted. Cold windy and no action. The water was much colder than on the 10th and I fished similar tides. Conclusion that cold spell pushed the surf back a few weeks. Probably won’t be better for a few weeks. The 10th was 63 today was 61 surf temps but I think the recent drop really messed stuff up.
Good report 40, thanks. What temp do the blacktips start running, I thought I remember a good run of blacktips sometime around April and them being hungry.
Was there a fish whistle involved in this Saga?
I ment to update sooner this was actually the 25th put the wrong date. When I reeled in 4 missing baits and on the big rig and something without sharp teeth mauled the deep bait.
What’s a fish whistle?
