Sharks on sharks on sharks

Well this weekend was along time coming and the first time the whole team and crew could put in some serious beach time together. There was a few great moments in the trip and a ton of great catches. A lot of fish over 100 inches a few new pbs and plenty of good times. One of my favorites was getting caught in a monsoon the one night. We heard what sounded like a stampede coming and we start asking each other what’s that noise and some one yells its the rain like the train seen in stand by me and we all ran for cover. The heaviest rain ever pounded everything for about ten minutes. As me and a buddy are walking gear I’m thinking I bet the rest of them are feeling the weather and on our the others cruise by on the golf cart with the rest of the gear and yak and yell some funny stuff and spirits are still high all around. More pics to come
Big spinner with crazy mating marks

Looks like a very sharky kind of day. How long does it take to beach one of those boys?

“Apathy is the Glove into Which Evil Slips It’s Hand”, but really, who cares?

Well I caught the 2 smallest fish of the trip both 5ft black tips. The one that didn’t get hung up took about less than a minute and I broke a sweat. The other took about 25 minutes of dead lifting and squats to get it in and it was dead and stiff as a board. Some pics of bait gear and the forced harvest of the black tip. I turned the beach to a butcher shop cutting it up and a group of people told they drove 2hrs each way to the beach and seeing the dissection was their trip maker and watched me butcher for 5 minutes. We had hits on everything we put out and THE WEEKEND TOTAL WAS 23 TO 25 SHARKS with majority over 7ft and lemons. We caught lemons black tips spinners and a sandbar. I lost something big slow and heavy possibly a bully.

Incredible stuff 40. Thanks for the great report.

What a great weekend. Some of the best fishing I’ve ever seen, 24 sharks over 5’

Wow, that’s some good work! What beach is that?

Give a man a fish and feed him for a day. Don’t teach a man to fish… and feed yourself. He’s a grown man. And fishing’s not that hard.

As a small disclosure we do not like killing sharks, it died so we didn’t want to waste it so I made it bait since we weren’t sure on eating it because the weird way it died so easy and got so stuffs quick. My line wasn’t out an hour and was sitting near free spool and it came in stiff and way dead looking. A lot of then sharks we caught had bite marks on them. Out of 24 1 shark wasn’t hooked in the mouth, it was hooked in the pec fin foul hooked. Circle hooks do there job if you don’t use them switch. Also have all the gear you need. One hook was to tough to get it out the jaw so we cut the leader close to the hook. I would of preferred to have cut the hook with bolt cutters but I forgot mine. This hurt me more than reeling in the dead one because I couldn’t do 100% of what I should do so it was a small failure on my part but still better than forcing the hook out.

Great job and good on you for taking care of the fish too!

Thanks for the report and always the best pics 40. Incredible results.

Keep on castin’

Inspirational as hell y’all! I’m on my second second season trying to get serious about sharking. Got a few six foot blacktips to my credit so far, and I always like to see y’alls results. Cool cool stuff. Don’t worry! I remove all my barbs, got the right safety gear and good healthy releases and the correctly powered gear are my first concern! cheers guys

No matter how many variables I have control over, I never expect a bite. I only hope.

This is our second and third season for most of us its my second sharking. The number 1 thing is gear. The bigger the better and mono topshot is crucial. This year we all are adding 80s to our collections so we fish more lines and bigger baits. We’ve only had one fish test a 50w and he smoked me so hard i panicked and popped my line 150 lb pp by grabbing my spool but I think I save my self from getting spooled. The 50 was no match and I only angered him with max drag and he excellerated even after I palmed my spool For more drag. For a reference a 8fter can’t even squeak max drag.

great post and read. I really appreciate the effort.

i take back all the mean white braid things that i said.

Nice fish guys! The “spinners” a blacktip tho. Been spending night after night on the beach with DNR teaches you a thing or 2. Lol. Spinners are rare inshore. Blacktips behave the same way, they jump and spin when hooked.

Still… Nice fish my dude!

Nope look closer follyfisher. Two of those sharks have the distinctive black tip on the anal fin that makes them a spinner. We were surprised too

We caught our fair share of tippers last weekend too

Spinner 100%

I’m not trying to argue here but I sent this picture to Bryan Fraiser the main Shark Biologist at DNR and his exact words were the Top fish with the mating scars is a Blacktip. You can wikipedia ID marks all ya want brotha but ill take the advice of the PHD holding Marine Biologist.

Great work! Looks like s spinner to me, but i’ve only seen a few of them anyway, so i’m not the best person to ask. Thats the only way i know to tell them apart (the black tip to me means its a spinner)

I vote spinner as well.

If I’m posting, its because I’m sitting here at work, dreaming about fishing.

Sounds like you need a new sensei Danielson. Lol. But seriously its like 50/50 if the dnr I deal with knows enough for me to be impressed. You should also have ur own opinion people make mistakes. But congratulations on fishing with the dnr if that’s what u want to do… Hopefully it doesn’t turn into a fiasco like outkast chip and search.

Great report guys. Nice leaders you’re fishing too. I can tell youve put your time in before that trip. Good fish. Id sure hate to have a mating ritual like that kinky sucker did!
