3 oz. egg sinker in front of its head, never caught them that big at the pier this late.
I heard the big bull sharks were biting a few weeks ago.
17ft Key west
they still here!
ah… bulls do swim here… thought they might be a myth after only catching lemons all summer

If y’all don’t mind me asking, how can y’all tell that’s a bull? It looks like every one of the 75 others I caught this year while King fishing. Haha I hate catching the dang things but this one sure was fun to fight!
the skin color, the nose, the pectoral fins, that and the 1000 or so I have seen in reports from FL/TX with land based sharking there. Obviously my team will need to step it up next yr and stop only catching lemons and blacktips.

Oh ok thanks! Lord knows if you need help catching sharks give me a holler. I didn’t catch a dang thing this year on my trolley rig but them! Haha
Pretty much if there is a shark in the water within 100 miles of Folly Beach Matt or I will find a way to catch it…
after debate with others… since it was hard to see in the water vs on the beach as we are accustomed to… it is a lemon not a bull, bummer.

Kinda figured, see alot of big lemons around the pier on a daily basis. Usually they are in the shallows though not near the end.
That’s a lemon.

We’ve caught several nice Bulls in the last 4-5 years on beaches around the Charleston area in the 8-9 ft. range. They’re here, just keep trying.
Those are nice big bulls ! Any hint on yardage drop wise? I feel at least on folly only action we eve got was less than 150 yds out. Every 300-500 yd drop sat for up to 36 hrs no takers

Stan, I’m thinking the last one was kind of shallow, maybe, 200-250. The one before that was out my usual distance of around 400 or so, I think. Both on the open beach away from any inlets, surprisingly. One on a 5-6 lb. sharpnose and the other on a grouper head. Those two I remember. Most of the time I’m dropping the baits at different distances to cover more ground. The monsters I’ve had on have all been deeper drops, but strangely over the years, we’ve landed some nice Duskies in close on small baits. Lots of Browns in closer too.
