I know sharks are easy to catch here in the summer i caught plenty last year. But how early do they show up i know the water i around 68 in the harbor. Is this still to cold for sharks? And does anyone have techniques for getting them on the fly? just to add another thrill to this kind of fishing.
We caught a lot Friday inshore… They are here.
Follow me when I am surfing, never get disappointed haha. All jokes aside I am following along because I would love to catch one on the fly too. My dad and I are getting a boat in a couple weeks so that can be put on the “to catch” list.
okay im glad they are here there fun to catch and do not require alot of skill.

taking one on the fly isn’t a walk in the park

Fish are too valuable to be caught only once.
i got a great idea of a good fly for sharks! might be large for an 8wt but in my mind it looks good, imma tie it up at the tackle shop and then post a picture of it for yall. also do they make some kind of wire or heavy mono or somehing like a sinking tip to catch spanish and sharks on the fly? i dont wanna buy another spool of sinkin line just for that
There is no greater fan of fly fishing than the mud minnow.

the charleston angler or the fly shop. i dont think the lowcountry fly shop lets you tie in the store, im pretty sure the angler does… but i really do love both tackle shops, both shops have incredibly helpful staff and i love goin in their!

of course you can tie here!
the best tip i can give you about sharks OTF is to bring it by their eye…they have a tremoundous number of sensory organs in the tip of their nose, the best bet at a reaction strike is by the eye. Borski tied a helluva nice shark fly that works well. reds and oranges
the borski fly has a deer hair head to push alot of water(this might help to tingle their senses)
Scott tie us a diagram please haha
Bragging may not bring happiness,
but no man having caught a large fish,
goes home through the alley.

plain full orange streamer works good on sharks, nice fat strip of barred rabbit
sharks aren’t in the harbor yet as of yesterday…Saltfisher, were you south of harbor?

Dip the fly in blood: then cast.
The come in with the warm water and bait
dogfish a plenty right now… i dont think the sharks have come up yet.
otf, Id wait until summer, chum one up and put it in front of 'em, use a single stand wire leader.
we were in the kiawah river…last Fri…
ya i definitly agree i think spinning deer hair is a good way to get their attention

not looking to steal any secret spots but can anyone share some info on some well known sharking spots around isle of palms? We recently started fishing in Charleston and sharks are definitely something we’re looking to target. Any info would be greatly appreciated and I’ll be sure to return the favor whenever possible

Try the inlets and deep holes in ICW in a few weeks…when the menhaden get in thick…

stephenzim, do you have a boat? If so then any deep hole in the ICW will hold something and the Jetties are always a good place to look.
