Sheephead fishing Mt Pleasant Pier

Took my friend girl to the pier since my starter went out on me. Rods, cooler, fiddlers in hand and we were ready. Started our lil hike down the pier and saw a few anglers stretched out fishing the pylons so I knew what time it was. So i rigged up my rod showing ole girl how to rig up just in case she wanted to try. Started fishing my first spot and next 5 secs slapped by the man teeth. Rigged up again and dropped and 15 seconds went by felt the man teeth that time. After the 2nd steal I pumped up but a little angry so I put my warface on and rigged up and really concentrating. Simple jig up and down and baam fish was on. I reeled the cobvict up to see he wasnt up to size so release he went.
I rigged up again and started catching them after I got the bite down. So i notice it was some younger guys below me sheephead fishing to. These little guys had to be around 10-14 years old. When I say they were pulling them out back to back. Someone had really taught them well. Put a smile on my face to see young guys fishing like that. So I went back to fishing and just happen to lean over the rail and looked closely at the water and pylons. Up comes and swimming around the pylons was the biggest sheephead i have ever seen. It had to be between 20-25 inches long. I hate I didnt get a picture of that fish. What is the biggest you guys seen before?? Well I ended my day with 5 keepers and alot of throwbacks. I will have to fish the pier more often now.

Good report Gonefishing. I haven’t done a whole lot of pier fishing but you make it sound fun. Thank you Sir. How you going to cook them?

Thanks Runbabyrun.Yes from freshwater up here in the upstate to saltwater on the coast I Love Fishing. I baked a few the other day and the rest I will fry.
