Anyone have some tips on how to target sheepies over there this time of year? I have done well there in the warmer months but I understand it’s different in the winter
This time of year most of the regulars turn to fresh mussels, clams, or oysters for bait since fiddlers become harder to get. Try a Carolina rig with a small hook. Sz 1 Gamakatsu are popular as well as Owner #2 or #4 mosquito hooks. All 3 are available in the pier shop. The incoming tide seems to produce the best results.
Question - Do you guys buy the carolina rig premade…or make it yourself? I went to Walmart and Field and Stream tonight and didn’t see any premade, although maybe I am not looking for the right thing…as new to the area.
Sheep rigs are simple. 15-25 lb, 18" leader, small strong hooks. I use owners. Use enough split shot lead to keep you vertically fishing. Don’t waste money on the pre rigged stuff.
Thanks!
