sheepshead guide

does anyone know of a local guide who targets sheepshead inshore? my buddy and i struck out (again) looking for these things. id rather just have a guide teach us to fish for sheeps than have repeated non successful outings. i haven’t even had my bait stolen by one! obviously doing something wrong here…anyone know of a guide or have some advice? thanks!

If you do a search here on this topic you will find all the information you want to read and then some. Catching sheephead is an art form unlike almost any other form of fishing. I always told a newbie you have to set the hook before the fish bites. Fact is I have caught 10 in a row one day and missed 50 in a row the next! My advice is you need plenty of live china back fiddlers and a five gallon bucket as full of barnicles as you can scrape off of any kind of exposed structure on low tide. If you are in the right location and chum a little your bait will not last more then 15 seconds. There is all kind of advice here on equipment and rigs. One thing for sure, this species makes for some fine table fare!

Collins Doughtie will hop on your boat and help you out if you are on HH

hey thanks guys. i will try and give collins a call sometime soon. i have searched the forum many times trying to learn more about these fish. there has to be something were doing wrong because we’ve never even had one steal our bait. i would love to be able to try to find them myself but working two jobs and studying for grad school doesn’t leave much time open! I’m willing to support a local guide who can show me how to catch some convicts. thanks!

“Fishin Coach” taught me in one outing.

Where are you located I could probably show you one day.
