Sheepshead rod holders

So after catching my first sheepshead a while back I realize how sensitive the bites are. I guess my question is I made the rod holders a while back but how do I set the hook? I missed a bite when my tip started shaking but then you have to move the rod to get it out of your holder and into your hands, by the time you do that your bait is gone. Just looking for some advice, all help will be appreciated, thank’s!!!

I’m so salt life I sued google earth for giving away all of my fishing spot’s.

dont use a rod holder. With sheeps you have to hold the rod. If you are not getting bites within 10 min you need to move. chum for sheeps with pieces of oysters and barnacles. If they are there you will get bites once the bait hits the bottom.

Sheepshead are really weird fish… when i first started trying to catch them i had one heck of a time getting one hooked… once i switched to cirlcles for them i tore their behinds up! Use small circles and keep tension on the line while reeling slowly. When you feel the bite just keep reeling in line nice and slow. When you feel the weight of the fish raise the rod and youve done it! If you need a rod holder for sjeepshead youre on the wrong spot. Theyll hit that crab as soon as it hits the water if youre in the right place. Good luck!
