Shrimp Poppers In The Surf?

Hi Guys, im pretty new at surf fishing but i get 1 chance every year To Catch The biggest thing possible. So could i use a popping cork in the surf? Like if i waded out to the calm parts? Im in Isle of Palms if that helps.
Thanks

I haven’t tried it but I think that it would work pretty well.

K I figured it would but if anything i can just walk down to breach inlet and fish down there.

You might have some luck with a popping cork in the calmer waters in Breech Inlet or around the jettys on Sullivans. Never tried it, but you never know what works, or doesn’t work, until you try it. Most fish in the surf, or between the breakers will be feeding towards the bottom. I’m interested in hearing if you have any luck with this set up.

Will do but i wont be going for while ill let you know What i catch
(if i catch anything)

I’ve used a popping cork in the surf at iop, usually with gulp shrimp. Ive had pretty good luck casting right past the breakers catching trout. Scout at low tide for sloughs and fish them at high tide.

Thanks that will help alot. Any color in particular? Ive already gotten Gulp Ghost Shrimp Chartreuse belly. The day we leave for the beach i will hopefully be able to make a run to haddrells point Tackle

You might consider the Zman scented shrimpz. I think the zman plastics hold up better than the Gulp. Make sure you get the scented Zman, and I the houdini color has always been recommended to me.

Alright im willing try about anything

Id go with a jig head and cast the gulp shrimp past the breakers and work it parallel to the beach. youll probably catch fish. If its big fish youre after id go with a big live mullet on the bottom. Have fun out there, good luck.
