Shrimp Report... The locals already know

Pigeon Point area… Single poled just about every decent spot incoming and outgoing tides only smalls and not enough to make a trip down.

From Beaufort Marina to Sands Beach… Same deal, small and mediums not enough for a decent shrimp cocktail.

Battery Creek… Single poled and actually saw some med-Large put out 3 more poles size stayed decent but the numbers weren’t worth the effort.

Station creek… Same deal as Battery but I was seeing more red legs and the numbers were a little better.

Lands End… better numbers but mixed sizes if your willing to work hard and brave the wind and waves would be your best bet. Wouldn’t advise it for the novice or small boats. It can get really rough quick.

Trenches… Mixed sizes, red legs, numbers aren’t there yet.

My advise; wait a couple weeks maybe the weather will get a little colder, muddy up the water and bring the shrimp in. I spent 4 days running all over, covering as much water as I could. If your like me and have to rely on these forums to decide when to make a 2 1/2 hour drive, I hope you’ll appreciate some insight. My Best advise is to always follow the locals, get a list of all the boat landings from DNR’s website get out there and check each landing; if you can do doughnuts in the parking lot with a 20’ boat then go to another landing. Blue crab is hot right now, reds are tailing everywhere, trout bite is good. Fishin is the mission.

Good, useful report gunmanii. Thanks!
