Shrimp reports?

Hopefully this year we’ll see a lot more “cooler’ed out” because last year all we saw was “cooler doubt”.

Harbor Friday night. Was worried with the storms passing but put in right at 7:45 thinking the landing would be a zoo - hardly anybody there. Set up and casting by 8:30, first 3-4 passes were great, but then it slowed tremendously. Picked up again as tide began rising, but we called it a night. 2/3 cooler med-small. A pain to clean those smalls guys but they tasted great

JIsurfer…if you are talking about surise park…while the gate locks at dusk people do still go down there…park outside the gate or take golf carts. they were just trying to dicourage the party parkers is what I heard…unless they ahve new signs up. the old ones said "gate closes at dusk…but did not say you couldnt still be on the dock. Call the parks and ask for sure though.

Yeah, Sunrise. The cops that let us out were super nice, but even they didn’t initially have the code to let us out. They made a couple calls and got it. Anyway, they did say that technically, we were trespassing, since all city parks closed at dark. I could probably go back with no problems and just park outside the gate, but it would be my luck that they would come by looking for late night park goers. I’ve been going there since I was a kid, loooooooooong before it was made a park and this was the first time I had ever seen the police there. This is my luck though.

Check out the Cowpens thread.

went to Bennett’s Point sat. and shrimped the incoming tide. caught 8 shrimp, tried for enough to make a cocktail but they just were not there.

Ashley River friday night…was out there 3 hours and caught maybe a dozen. Going to try Bulls Bay or Cowpens…the rivers don’t seem to do that well from the people I’ve talked to, unless you happen to have a “honey hole”…which I don’t!

Ji surfer…we were there tonight and it was loaded with people fishing and a couple shrimping…it’s a pretty place for sure…sorry that the "activities"of a few there got it locked down for us.

We hit BB at sunrise. Caught a few on the outgoing tide. At 930 am, the wind just turned on. It was ROUGH. And there were, oh I would say about 300 dolphins having a big ole time out there with everybody. Curiously they didn’t run the slalom course through our poles like they usually do. Maybe they felt sorry for us or were laughing too hard at watching us humans try to throw cast nets in 20 mph winds. Ended up with 1/3 cooler headed. Won’t do that again, even on opening weekend. Ok I probably will.

Got a cooler on Saturday but really had to work for them with the wind.

Yeah, I may hit it up a little later when it gets a cooler out. Otherwise, I have no idea where to go, that isn't an hour away from Goose Creek.

Years passed have you caught decent shrimp out at the park? How about fish? Catch much out there? I live close and that would be nice to be able to catch a fish close to home

We went to Cowpens Friday on the falling tide and caught the limit, back at Pole Yard before dark. Went to Bulls Bay Saturday on the rising tide and filed the box again. No shortage of shrimp but they are on the small size right now.

THAT is encouraging!

treeman, About how long is the ride from the pole yard to cowpens? I usually make the run from south island. Was there Saturday on the rising tide and got a limit.

It usually takes us about 45 minutes coming in through Casino Creek. You can cut through Aligator creek at high tide but it can get shallow. I am running in a 21’ Carolina Skiff with a Yamaha 115.

Treeman that’s awesome. Have you or anyone you know ever had a vandalism problem at Pole Yard. Used to put in there and would often come in late at night and I’d be the only one there. Never had a problem but you’re kindof exposed there. BTW, the ride back up the river at night is a ton of fun seeing alligators out the wazoo.

Those shrimp are small???
