Terry, it looks like you deleted the post where you invited me to make this a contact sport said you were easy to find and I should come find you. Once again if you go looking for trouble and inviting trouble it will be sure to find you. Good luck to you sir. I wish you luck in all your endeavors.
shrimp baiting has been around forever, we used to use dog food and pluff mud way before people started pitching and selling clay and fishmeal… and everyone either used bamboo or pvc pipe, there were no diameter limits and no one was stupid enough to used metal bolted to the bottom of pvc pipe like so many do now… once you break it, and so many do, you’re leaving metal piping on the bottom for boats to get ruined on… some people are even proud of their bolton jobs, tell that to the guy that has the expensive repair…
Very good point!!!Never thought about it being a danger to navigation…Has one ever broke off??? could make a nasty scratch if you run across one.
'bout time
I’ve been watching this unfold. And learned my lesson. I’ve been shrimping BB, Ashley and a little in the Harbor for many years. I’m on my way down now to try the waters. A cooler usually does me a year so I don’t take much. Probably do it more for the Autumn boating and scenery than the take home anyway. To be safe and not get my butt whipped I think I’ll set my one pole up just below the lock on the Cooper. Never seen anybody owning that spot.
Since we are talking about the history of baiting. The guys at Yemassee were not the first to do it but they are responsible for SC having a legal baiting season.
